How Pennine handles personal information.

This notice sets out what information Pennine collects through its enquiry form and from the public register, why it is collected, where it is held, how long it is kept, and the rights a person has over it. It is dated 10 October 2026.

Who Pennine is

Pennine is the controller of the information described here.

Pennine is a trading name. A limited company will be incorporated as the acquisition vehicle before any agreement is entered into, and it will register with the Information Commissioner's Office once incorporated. Questions about this notice, and any request under it, can be sent to acquisitions@pennineholdco.com or made by telephone on 0808 255 4308.

  • What is collected through the enquiry form. The name, company, telephone number and email address entered on the contact page, the capacity in which the person writes, and the message itself. The telephone number is used only to return a call that has been asked for. The form is processed by Netlify, which hosts this site; each submission is stored in Netlify's form records and sent by email to Pennine's mailbox.
  • What is collected from the public register. Pennine writes by post to the owners of businesses it may wish to acquire. For that purpose it takes from the Companies House register the names of a company's directors, its registered office address and the information in its filed accounts, all of which are public, and records which companies have been written to and when. No other source is used and no information is bought from a data broker.
  • Why, and on what basis. Information from the form is used to answer the enquiry that was made and to take the steps the person has asked for. Information from the public register is used to write to a business owner about his or her company, on the basis of Pennine's legitimate interest in identifying businesses whose owners may wish to sell, weighed against the fact that the information is already public and that a single letter is a limited intrusion. Anyone who objects is not written to again: an objection means no further contact, and a note of it is kept only so that it is honoured.
  • Where it is held. Form submissions are held by Netlify, which hosts the site and processes the form, and in Pennine's email, which is provided by Google Workspace. The record of letters sent is held in Pennine's own files. Both providers may hold information in data centres outside the United Kingdom under the safeguards set out in their terms of service. Information is not sold, and is not passed to anyone outside Pennine other than the accountant or solicitor acting for it in a transaction, who hold it under the same duty of confidence.
  • How long it is kept. An enquiry is kept while the matter it relates to is open and for no more than two years after the last contact, after which it is deleted; where a transaction follows, the records of it are kept for the period the law requires. The record of letters sent is kept for the duration of the search and for no more than two years after the last letter. Submissions held in Netlify's form records are deleted once they have been answered and recorded.
  • Cookies. This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics. The map on the contact page is an embedded view from OpenStreetMap, which is loaded from openstreetmap.org when that page is opened.
  • The rights a person has. Anyone whose information Pennine holds may ask what is held, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, ask for its use to be restricted, and object to its use. An objection to receiving letters is honoured without question. Requests are answered within one month. A person who is not satisfied with the answer may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
